We are strong believers of brands having to be social to be relevant. What’s more important is that people (and not consumers!) feel the same way. Media fragmentation, the democratisation of information and peer to peer recommendations have all brought us to a place where brands of old are losing their relevance. And they are losing it fast.
That may sound like a threat, but we perceive this to be the ultimate opportunity for business to regain a sustainable place in people’s lives and society overall.
Brands have been telling people how great they are for years. It’s time they start showing it.
We belief that the only way to regain their place in people’s lifes is to truly become social. And we mean social in the broadest sense of the word. A Twitter presence or Facebook fan page are not enough. Not in their own right.
Being social means interacting with people, two way communications, listening as well as talking and no more crappy ads! Be social online, create experiences offline and provide people with things that actually help improve their lifes.
We believe that brands have three main outlets to be social: by using social media in all its forms, through creating experiences and by providing branded utilities.
We love Nike+, we love Fiat’s EcoDrive and we love Innocent’s Fruitstock.
The Socialistas is a place for us to share our passion for social brands and the people and agencies that drive them forward in the age of people’s empowerment. We aim to inspire brands to become more social.
